All About Me....
I have been a professional writer for over twenty years - sending out my first invoice in 1990.
My first byline appeared in a local newspaper in Central London - the City of London & Docklands Times. The City of London & Docklands Times operated from a set of offices above a tobacconist in Fleet Street - allowing me to say, with no word of a lie, that I began my career as a Fleet Street journalist!
Since then I have worked as a freelance journalist - contributing copy to a wide range of publications on topics as diverse as motoring, art, food, finance, IT and travel. (See JOURNALISM and CLIENT LIST pages on this site for examples)
Freelance journalism was my platform into professional copywriting. As a copywriter I have worked for advertising agencies, marketing agencies, PR firms, contract publishers, government departments, universities, blue chip companies, small businesses and private clients. (See COPYWRITING and CLIENT LIST pages on this site for examples)
Since 2004 I have regularly taught a self-devised course in Writing Freelance Magazine Features to adult learners at Richmond Adult & Community College (RACC) in Richmond, Surrey. (Next course begins: 07/11/13). I have also taught Print Journalism units within the accredited Open College course in Journalism at RACC.
When I am not copywriting I write novels!
